Getting out of debt is rewarding and hard.  When I took the time to fix my credit, I never dreamed it would take so long. Fixing My Credit Tool Bag Is Missing A Tool

There are a number of companies who make prey upon those of us with bad credit with an offer to “fix my credit.”  Here are examples of some of these companies and what you should be on the watch for before you spend your money.

Companies who challenge everything in your credit report.  The idea with this line of attack is a requirement that lenders must prove or otherwise confirm the debt and the account actually exists.  This tactic is still used today, but computerized reporting makes it likely this won’t get much off your credit report.  Its also a short term effort, as on the next scheduled update from the creditor to the reporting agency the bad data is likely to pop back on your report.  I didn’t see it do much to fix my credit, as most of the items on the report were pretty factual. How Do I Fix My Credit After I’ve Been Turned Down

OK, so you been turned down for a loan.  My first thought would be how am I going to fix my credit so this doesn’t happen again.  And I want to fix my credit fast.  Here are steps you can take.  These steps can help you boost your FICO score within a month, and are legal and ethical.

Start with figuring out why your numbers are bad.  Legally, you are allowed a free report from whichever of the three national credit reporting agencies were relied upon by the creditor in turning you down for credit.  Once you have the report in hand, look at the negative information.  Look for late payments, judgments, and false information.  Its here we’ll take two different approaches.  A low FICO score because of negative information requires a different approach than a low score because of a lack of credit history or accounts.
